Politics, the Free World, and Tibet

This is a political post - read at you own risk!

I am tired of hearing the rhetoric put forth by political leaders in this and other nations concerning the Olympics. Over the last few days I have heard numerous leaders suggest that the Games are not about politics, and that we should all just focus on the athletes. These politicians suggest that the purpose of the Games is to adore the athletes while blessing us with the privilege of being entertained—after all, that is all the politicians believe that we want—Entertainment!

This false rhetoric and smoke screen talk is just an attempt to divert us from the true issues at hand. The atrocities of the Chinese oppressors against the Tibetans are coming to light and it is causing the ruling elites to assemble their words and resources in an effort to divert the attention of the good people of the world. Regardless of my feelings for my brothers and sisters, the purpose of this post is to correct the fallacious statements of these so called leaders.

The arrogant politicians who believe they are superior to us and suppose that they can tell us anything and we will believe it have said that the Games are about the athletes and not about politics. This is a lie. Pierre de Coubertin’s major purpose in instituting the modern Olympic Games in the late 19th century was to help alleviate the tensions that existed between nations. The Games were to provide an athletic outlet for the tendencies toward war. The resolution of peace among warring nations was a dominant purpose; a political motivation by any mans definition. Pierre wanted the Games to be a means of establishing cooperation between participating nations. It was his hope that the Games would contribute to world peace.

With the lies cast aside, and the truth about the Games established, it is my hope that you will do something to aid our brothers and sisters in Tibet so they can be freed from their oppressors. I don’t know what that will be, but you will—I invite you to act accordingly.

We can make a difference.

Easter Bumbles!

Well- we are only 2 days past Easter so I consider my timing rather good. So we did our Easter hunt on Saturday with our family ward here in Utah. Presley had a blast and loved that the eggs had candy in them. Later Saturday Bryan and I took our bumbles over to BYU campus for some Easter pics. Sunday we had our Easter baskets full of treats and I hid them to keep the tradition I had growing up alive. Let me just say they weren't too hidden so our 2 year old could find it easily. Sunday we went to church and we have late church (2pm-5pm) so when we got home there was a message on Brys phone from our Friends inviting us for Easter Dinner ( so nice we didn't have to cook !! thanks Dan and Lisa) We had a nice eventful weekend. Anyway I hope you are all prepared for a lot of pics in this post. I expect to see some Easter pics from everyone soon!
Here is a pic of our handsome baby Knox

shut up and drive...

So I am sure we have all heard the song by Rhianna with the lyrics "shut up and drive". So we were driving home from pitching lessons the other night ( I took Pres because Bry had to study for 2 tests). Presley was such a good girl and she was just talking to me, so I reached back and held her little hand and told her I loved her, she said " I love you too" and then just sat there quiet. A few seconds later she said "give me my hand mom and drive, just drive mom"[. It cracked me up she is such a little boss. She has been sick today and so pitiful with a temp of 102. Knox has been bored and trying to get her to play but she has just cried when he has come over and pulled on her pillow on the couch. I hope she feels well enough to join the other kids in the Easter egg hunt tomorrow. My friend from Nashville has been in this week too, and between Presley and myself having a stomach bug we haven't been very motivated to get out of the house. ( Sorry Tenniel, but I know you of all people understand having sick kids.) So ya- that is what we have been up to this week. Knox is standing a ton on his own and has even tried to take a step on his own. I am in no hurry, but it is fun to watch him learn and grow everyday. Ill post Easter pics soon ! Happy Easter !

Race Day !!

Alright- So I ran the Rex Lee Race for the Cure today. I did the 10k. My first 10k, but I just wanted to see where I was with my training for the half marathon next month in Nashville. I ran it in 1hr 1min. Not great, I was hoping for 54 minutes, but whatever. I was totally worked up by the energy of the crowd when I got there and it was crazy crowded. I tried to start in the back so all the speedsters would be in front and I wouldn't be run over. So it started great everyone was running, but about 400 meters into it people started walking and the curb jumping and the weaving in and out started...It was nuts !! It was like that for at least the first 3 miles and then the crowd separated and it was smooth sailing. It was freeeeezing this morning and my sweet family braved it and cheered me on at the start and they were there when I finished. Bry was done though- evidently Presley was being a handful and Knox had started to cry. But I was glad to see them there, it made the race that much more fun !! Don't mind my race face ! I was so stinking cold !

Our week ...

Well our week hasn't really been that eventful. We have stayed busy though. Bry had two tests this week and I had pitching lessons up in Sandy on tuesday and thursday. It has been too cold to play outside so the bumbles and I have been hiding out in the house all week until today. It was nice today and we stayed outside from about 1-5, it was awesome and presley wore herself out. well let me tell you our excitement for today. Presley and I got up from nap about 12:45 and Bry was home playing with knox. I got ready to go outside and decided to run to the bathroom before we headed down, so I went in the bathroom and it looked like it had been clogged (thanks Bry), so I thought I would just flush it to make sure everything was fine...and the fun began. I could see that the water was rising, and rising, so I got our mats off the floor and tucked the shower curtain in the tub and put a towel in the door way so the water wouldn't go onto the carpet, but my efforts for that were in vain. Oh my gosh the water was pouring out everywhere and it wouldn't stop. Bry had to turn the water off to the toilet, meanwhile we had water in the hall headed to our room all over the carpet (GROSS). Thank goodness it was clean water (well as clean as toilet water can be right...eww)So we we're in the process of sopping all the water up with paper towels and towels, when my phone rings. It was our neighbor from under us...."uh Hey, is your bathroom leaking." She proceeded to tell me that water was leaking from her ceiling...Ahhhhh, thanks BYU housing. So ya the maintenance people came disinfected our carpet and we bleached our bathroom. The toilet was broken, Sorry Bry, so not really his fault, it was a flapper valve that had broken in the toilet, so they fixed that and the Fallowfield household is up and running again.

The other change is that we have put Presley and Knox in the same room. Presley has been getting out of bed and coming in our room several times a night. It is so irritating to have to get up and put her back in bed. She has been saying she is scared, which is possible but she knows that excuse has worked before. So her room is now a play room and they seem to be happy to be in the same room. After we closed the door tonight they were both giggling so loud in the dark. I can tell she is much more comfortable having him in the room with her...And here is a video of Knox's new trick. He cracks himself up shaking his head "no". enjoy.
