Alright, so we use this blog not only to keep our family and friends up to date with what is going on in our lives, but also as a journal for our children. So here goes one that isn't a super fun read. We got a call yesterday letting us know that there was a cancellation at the Gastroenterologist that Knox was scheduled to see at the end of Dec, and that we could come this morning at 10. So we made the trip up to Salt Lake City to see the specialist. The visit went well. We now have a direction in which we are moving to get answers to his chronic diarrhea. Nice I know, but many of you already know this and know that it has been going on since June. The original Celiac disease test came back negative. When we went today he said that that particular test can give false negatives, but he doesn't think that it is celiacs but that is the next test if nothing comes back on the first which is a stool sample...Haha...fun fun, since his poop is so runny and mucussy, we get to put Saran wrap in his diaper wait til he poops then pour it into a container and take it to the lab. Sounds like it can get a little messy. They are looking for red and white blood cells in his stool. The Dr. thinks that it could possibly be colitis so we are following that route first, then a 3 day round of antibiotics to rule out a bacterial infection and then a 12 day cycle of super strength probiotics. If all of that comes back clear and good on to the celiac testing and if that is clear on to a couple other steps...If all comes back clear then he will be diagnosed with a motility dysfunction that is unspecified and we will have to add more fiber and fat and cut back on liquid. Are you all enjoying this ? If it is colitis they will have to scope his bowels to try and find out were the inflammation is and then biopsy that section. Oh ya and we have to take him off soy milk too and on to Rice milk, ugh, poor thing.
So that is where we are with our little man. He is such a trooper. He has the best temperament. He is so patient and happy and I am anxious to make his tummy troubles go away. He loves to wrestle with the boys outside and he will run and and say "push" before he pushes or "punch" before he punches. We were at Ikea today and he told his daddy "daddy wait". He is a clever little man. He loves his big sister. Presley had an awesome day today- no fits or crying out bursts... It was wonderful and weird at the same time to have such a happy child even when she was told no.
